Le Domaine is Relocating (Finished!)

Posted by Jarrod on in Homepage

To make room for our ever increasing product range and improve stock availability, Le Domaine is moving to a bigger and better warehouse! Read on to find out what this means for you.

Over the past 18 months, Le Domaine has grown substantially. Our product range (the amount of different products), and our volume (how many of each product we sell) has increased so much, that we have outgrown our warehouse. This means that it’s time to move!

Unfortunately, moving this many products is a significant challenge, and means that deliveries are going to be delayed until we set up at our shiny new warehouse. How long exactly this is going to take, we can’t say, but our tentative estimate is one week until we are back up and running.

Firstly, please accept our sincere apologies for this disruption. If you have ordered a product that will be delayed, and cannot accept a delay, please get in touch with us to obtain a full refund. All orders from and including Saturday the 12th of May are subject to this disruption.

Secondly, to make up for this delay, we will be offering FREE SHIPPING ON ALL ORDERS, across the board. All orders, whether they are for $1 or $10,000, will receive free shipping until we are back on track with our deliveries.

Our shop at Drummoyne (in Sydney) will continue to operate as normal, any and all products currently in stock at the shop are available for purchase and pick up. Unfortunately, all of our warehouse stock is tied up, so we are unable to ship additional products to the store for pick up – at least until we are back on track with normal deliveries. Please contact us if you wish to make a purchase from our shop, or if you’re local – come and say hi!

With our storewide free shipping offer, now is a great time to order something small from Le Domaine. So long as you don’t mind waiting, you can order a little something for $20, $10 or even $5, and no matter where you live in Australia delivery is free to your door. Where normally $10 shipping would make the purchase pointless, now you can buy a little citrus reamer, grater or pastry brush, and only pay the cost of the item. Update 04/06/2012

Very happy to report that the move has been finalised, and orders have begun to be dispatched this morning. We’re going to be working overtime to work through the backlog, but even recent orders will be on their way soon!
Again, thank you everybody for your patience and understanding during the move. We unreservedly apologise for the delays and disruptions, it took far longer than we could ever have anticipated. It should all be worth it, we’re definitely looking forward to delivering much better stock availability, product range and service with our shiny new warehouse!

You don’t say where you are moving to!

    • Jarrod on May 15, 2012, 3:25 PM says: Reply

      Hi Bella,

Our warehouse is pretty uninteresting. It’ll still be located in Sydney, in the burbs of warehouses and industrial estates.

Our Drummoyne shop is staying where it is, if that’s what you mean!

What a great offer! Can you give some indication of when we can expect delivery of the items we order today? A month? 6 weeks? Longer?
Also, you probably knew before May 12 that you were moving and orders would be delayed. It was wrong of you to take orders without first disclosing this information.

    • Jarrod on May 15, 2012, 3:51 PM says: Reply

Theoretically it should only be a few days, but we’re anticipating delays – there’s always something! I’d say we should be back on track next week at the latest.

Speaking of delays, the moving operation has had a couple false starts, which is why it was hard to get this advice out with proper timing. There were (and still are) lots of things going on which makes planning difficult. It isn’t very good though, I acknowledge that, and if anybody has placed an order and can’t accept the delay we’re more than happy to cancel the order and refund.

OMG! This is the best un-Birthday ever, I just bought myself your Progressive Curly Fry maker which I normally wouldn’t have bothered with because of the shipping price. CURLY FRIES FOR DINNER NEXT WEEK! I love you guys!

Massively unimpressed with your update on 25 May, and the unhelpfulness of your staff when I tried to call them to find out what was going on. “Should start despatching in a few days” I was told. What does that mean? It’ll take you a week to get stuff out? 2 weeks? Now searching to source the goods from an alternative place so I can cancel and get a refund

Useless Aussie customer service strikes again. Must do better

First things first, please accept my apology for the delay, and for the issues with communication. It hasn’t been good enough, and we’ve certainly learnt a lot of lessons.

By way of explanation, the whole process has been very hard to predict. We were initially told we’d be up and running within 3 days (!), but expecting delays we left it open ended, with the (very) rough expectation of 1-2 weeks.
Throughout the entire moving operation it has been very hard to realistically set a time to be back up and running, which caused a lot of frustration from all sides! Management is annoyed, customer service is stressed, customers are very disappointed – the inability to say decidedly when we can get things started again has been one of the hardest parts of the move.

We are expecting good news in the next day or so, with only the final touches of the move still to go. We’ll let everybody know when we’ve started to dispatch, but there’s good reason to believe it will be very very soon. As you can imagine, there is a significant backlog of orders, so there will be a delay while we work through the oldest orders first. However, the end is in sight and we can’t wait.

If it helps, we expect the new warehouse to really improve our service long term. Stock availability, range of products, postage costs and handling times are all expected to improve, so if you can forgive our very poor recent performance, there’s a lot to look forward to in future. We certainly won’t be moving again for a long time, I can tell you!

I’m just about to place an order and saw the warning that my parcel will be delayed. I clicked for more information and was then given a detailed explanation of the move and the issues you have been having. Well I couldn’t ask for more honesty than that! You have apologised again and again for the delay. Running a business isn’t easy and plans often fail! Thank you for telling your customers and keeping us informed. Yes I’d really like my parcel now but I’m more than happy to wait and support you! Good luck with the completion of your move. I do hope your customers return in droves – but wait just a bit longer for you to settle ;-)

Why does it still show postage at checkout? Thought it was free?

    • Jarrod on May 31, 2012, 12:55 PM says: Reply

This has been fixed, free shipping has been extended through this weekend.

That is great :) thanks for the quick follow up.

Free Shipping: Sorry to disagree but I am right this minute trying to place an order and it is still showing $10.00 delivery fee. Do I have to type in a discount code or something?
I agree with Hel Parkes, moving an entire warehouse is tough and logistics a nightmare. I once was in charge of moving an entire publishers book inventory and trying to also keep the customers happy. We’ve been informed, updated and updated again with apologies, that should suffice. Doing a sterling job, oh except for the shipping discount…lol. Please advise

      Hi Julie,

Sorry you were experiencing issues over the weekend. Because the move has been finalised the offer has been removed, but I can take the $10 off your order for you. Have you made the order already?
Even if you haven’t, please let me know your order number when you place your order, and I’ll apply a refund for the shipping fee.
      Email me at jarrod.booth@ledomaine.com.au

      Thanks,
      Jarrod
